Quality Specialist-Kansas City, KS This is a full-time,
non-exempt level position. Experience / Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree in food science or related field preferred.
Minimum 1 year of experience in quality or manufacturing preferred.

Description Ability to complete all tasks assigned to the Quality
Technicians and cover as needed. The coverage for this position
will be required when no other Quality Technician can be found to
cover for the open position. If the Quality Assurance Specialist is
unable to cover or make arrangements for coverage, the Quality
Manager will need to determine coverage or cover the position
themselves. The job duties of the Quality Specialist covering for
the Quality Technician shall cease upon the end of the shift or
upon the return of the regularly scheduled Quality Technician.
Ability to complete tasks assigned to the Quality Manager and cover
as needed. Tasks to cover during the absence of the Quality Manager
include but are not limited to: Formal Release, verification tasks,
log updating and review and ensuring sampling is taking place
properly. The job duties of the Quality Specialist covering for the
Quality Manager shall cease upon the end of the shift or upon the
return of the plant Quality Manager. Assisting the Quality Manager
in development of personnel and courier schedules. Responsibility
to help identify food safety &/or product integrity issues. As
well as, initiate and record actions for food safety &/or
product integrity issues reported. Responsible for conducting the
Annual Food Safety Training utilizing the Alchemy system.
Responsible for training all new Quality Technicians to ensure that
they are adequately trained for on-the-job tasks. Help create
reference material for Quality Technicians. Inventory, and order
lab supplies, as needed. Catalog all foreign material evidence &
review with Quality Manager to determine if further investigation
is required. Manage the Plant Retain Sample Program, including
storage & disposal. Review batch paperwork and associated quality
checks, follow-up on discrepancies & update required spreadsheets.
This includes but is not limited to signing off on quality checks,
cleaning check lists, metal detection checks, calibration records,
environmental & product testing records. Manage the Quality Hold
Program, including identification, placarding, disposition &
disposal. Participate as a member of the Plant Internal Audit Team.
Support Quality Manager in maintaining product sampling matrices,
product specifications & sight samples, as well as, communicate
revisions to the necessary personnel. Support Customer Complaint &
Root Cause Investigations. Review, updated &/or create
documentation to support the Quality Management System. Support the
Lab Technicians as needed, duties may include 3rd Party Lab Testing
Sample Requests & Sample Submissions Proficiency Testing Perform
