Job Summary: We welcome you to join the Pharmacy Team as a Pharmacist-Infectious Disease at our Olathe Medical Center. Under the general supervision of the Director, and according to law and standard procedures provides pharmacist patient care services to the patients of Olathe Medical Center with particular focus on the pharmaceutical management of infectious disease processes. Responsible for day to day function and leading the efforts of the hospital's antibiotic stewardship program. The infectious disease specialist provides appropriate staff (pharmacy, medical, nursing) with educational tools to assist in the organization's efforts related to antibiotic stewardship. Represents pharmacy in the infection control committee and provides reports concerning efforts of the antibiotic stewardship team through the appropriate committee. Supervises pharmacy students on rotation and clinical interns as assigned. Is able to function in the role of staff pharmacist as needed. Minimum Requirements:

  • Graduate Degree Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Minimum
  • Other: American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited residency or equivalent experience Minimum
  • Other: Specialty residency training in infectious disease. Preferred
  • 1 - 3 Years Minimum
  • Pharmacist Licensure in the state of Kansas Or candidates must be eligible for licensure Minimum 30 Days
  • American Heart Association CPR BLS Minimum Upon Hire Key Responsibilities:
    • Educates physicians, nurses, and pharmacists as required regarding antibiotic stewardship and evolving practice guidelines in infectious disease therapy. - Provides education to pharmacy students on rotation concerning antimicrobial therapies. - Educates staff on formulary and protocol modifications in the area of infectious diseases.
    • Provides effective leadership by promoting the safe and effective use of antimicrobial therapy, by providing appropriate expertise in the infection control committee and antimicrobial formulary decisions in the Pharmacy, Therapeutics and Dietary Committee, and by demonstrating vision in the management and ongoing development of the antimicrobial stewardship program.
    • Coordinates and provides ongoing development of the antimicrobial stewardship program. Works constructively with other disciplines in the development of therapeutic guidelines, policies, order sets, and protocols for infectious diseases. - Works with the clinical coordinator and other clinical pharmacists in the ongoing development of the pharmacists clinical practice model.
    • Demonstrates expertise as pharmacist infectious disease specialist by:
      • - Sound management of the organization's antibiotic stewardship program.
      • - Gains the confidence of co-workers, physicians, and patients in regards to therapeutic decisions and recommendations related to antimicrobial management.
      • - Demonstrates expertise in infectious disease pharmacotherapy in divergent patient populations including all range of ages and infectious disease processes common to OHSI. Benefit Highlights:
