As a Payroll Specialist, you will:

  • Prepare/review multi-state checks, research/correct errors on multiple payroll systems, issue manual checks as necessary. 
  • Maintain system files which impact gross/net calculations and general ledger transaction records. 
  • Maintain filing for Payroll, Payroll Tax, and Garnishments. 
  • Work under moderate supervision.
  • Abide by and demonstrate the company Mission – Vision – Values through both behavior and job performance on a day-to-day basis.
  • Review/maintain PAR's and Payroll Special Requests Forms, terminations, severance, new hires, salary increases, facility code changes, etc.
  • Update/enter/maintain multi-state employee/bonus/pre-tax deduction/correction information into multiple payroll systems. 
  • Contact employees/line management to obtain/provide additional information/clarification as needed. Research information for branch audits and summons, subpoenas, and forgery/fraud cases. 
  • Respond to phone inquiries, answer payroll related questions and refer complex problems/issues to Manager - Payroll.  Correct general ledger transaction codes.
  • Maintain direct deposit accounts and related bank/tax information on payroll systems. 
  • Maintain multi-state filing including; Administrative, Per Diem, Payroll Tax, and Garnishments. 
  • Generate reports and audit/correct information to payroll systems.  Notify/forward corrections to Finance/Tax Department managers as necessary.
  • Prepare/issue manual checks on multiple payroll systems.  Prepare stop payments/corrected checks and update payroll systems as appropriate.  Provide payroll information for employment verifications.
  • Support the branches with questions regarding the Gentiva Time and Attendance employee time card entry system (GTA).
  • Key additions and updates into the Payroll Procedure Manual to keep it current.
  • Assist with W2 help-desk, assist with employees looking to obtain copies of their W-2’s.
  • Assist with the preparation and mailing of garnishment letters.
  • Assist payroll director and team with administrative responsibilities.
  • High School Diploma or the equivalent plus a minimum of three years automated payroll processing/bookkeeping experience generally required. 
  • Knowledge of payroll regulations (Department of Labor and multi-state) and microcomputer software required. 
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills also required. 
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office essential.
