Outdoor recreation represents a significant consumer engagement opportunity for states with over 146 million Americans participating in some type of outdoor activity each year. This activity generates over 400 Billion in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and is a significant revenue source for many states. States play a number of roles in supporting and growing outdoor recreation ranging from conservation and regulatory to licensing. NIC is hiring a Sales Associate of Outdoor Recreation to support our Outdoors division and products. Our highly motivated sales professionals not only initiate new relationships but must also maintain positive rapport with recreation leaders. To reach our ambitious sales goals near and long-term, you will be responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new outdoor recreation sales, and cultivating and expanding relationships. NIC is proud to partner with a number of states to provide innovative technology solutions for how they engage and support this growing market. NIC provides a unified platform to support licensing, reservations, enforcement, and digital park passes. NIC supports 1 in 5 outdoor recreation licenses sold today in the United States. SUMMARY The Sales Associate will have responsibility for engaging and selling into state government agencies and departments, specifically in the outdoor recreation space. The Sales Associate will also be responsible for executing sales objectives and initiatives to satisfy all growth, revenue, and quota objectives. The Sales Associatersquos responsibilities will cover key account management, sales, business development, contract vehicles, and key messaging and positioning required to aggressively grow NICrsquos business. DUTIES Work with the Vice President of NIC Outdoors and the Vertical Sales Leader to engage, promote and sell innovative digital government services across state agencies via government statewide enterprise engagements and targeted vertical solution offerings, specifically in the outdoor recreation Engage multiple states and adjust sales goals and procedures as appropriate for each state. Secure meetings and conduct presentations with decision makers within prospect agencies Develop key relationships and advance opportunities forward in alignment with the NIC sales methodology Monitor national, local and industry-specific media for information and intelligence to drive new sales Maintain high level of understanding of current government trends, issues and technologies, including those of NIC partner states as it pertains to outdoor recreation Represent NIC at association meetings, state meetings, internal NIC meetings and other meetings and events as required Assist in the review of and response to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) issued by government entities within the region, including analyzing requirements and preparing state specific responses based on intelligence from previous meetings and research Monitor and analyze state procurement sites for RFPs and other purchasing solicitations Monitor legislative activities in target states REQUIREMENTS Requires a Bachelorrsquos degree (or equivalent experience) in business, marketing, or related field Minimum of five yearsrsquo experience in the field of outdoors recreation space or Government Technology sales Minimum of four yearsrsquo experience in selling complex, enterprise solution and services to state government agencies and departments Personal experience in using solutions and services in the outdoor recreation market Demonstrate a proficient fundamental understanding of the outdoor recreation industry Track record of meeting or exceeding sales quota in prior roles Comfortable with interacting personally with people in government and business settings Exceptional communication oralwritten and interpersonal relationship skills, and at ease with public speaking Experience working with state and local government executive management Ability to manage strategic client relationships across state and local client sets Ability to evaluate and anticipate market and client needs and collaborate across the organization to develop innovative solutions Familiarity with a variety of the government sales field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
