SummaryThe role is responsible for effective systems management of network, file and print services, hardware and software provisioning and support, managing Active Directory, patch management, system backups, monitoring, asset inventory, and unified communication systems. Responsibilities

  • Provisioning, installation/configuration, operation and maintenance of systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure
  • Oversee technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure
  • Ensure that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling all employees, contractors and Partners
  • Support day-to-day operations of IT systems and services including 24x7 data centers, remote access, 365/MS Exchange, global messaging, backups, end-user support, security, and threat management
  • Proactively build, support and monitor 200+ Windows 2016/2012/2008/2003/2000, Linux, and Microsoft SQL 2016/2012/2008/2005/2000 server environments, as well as, desktops, laptops and workstations running Windows 10/8/7/XP/2000.
  • Assist project teams with technical issues in the Initiation and Planning phases of our standard Project Management Methodology including the definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy; research & development within the project life-cycle; technical analysis and design; and support of operations staff in executing, testing and rolling-out the solutions. Participation on projects is focused on smoothing the transition of projects from development staff to production staff by performing operations activities within the project life-cycle.
  • Configure server components and operating systems inside of a VM Ware infrastructure
  • Server administration and full backup and capacity planning, including monitoring and administration of production facilities
  • Position Accountability/Scope:
  • The position is based in Topcon Positioning Systems' Olathe office and reports to the IT Manager based in Topcon Positioning Systems' Olathe, KS office.
  • The role directly supports the enterprise infrastructure Topcon Positioning Systems' Olathe, KS office and the backup support for Topcon Positioning Systems sites throughout the US and Canada and indirectly supports Topcon Positioning Systems' global infrastructure as part of a much larger global IT department.
  • The System Administrator is a customer service oriented self-started with strong technical knowledge, superior analytical and troubleshooting skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision and effectively prioritize workload to support both IT tactical and strategic objectives. The position will interface with technical, non-technical, and executive personnel, as well as, Topcon Positioning Systems' customers. The System Administrator should be able to successfully demonstrate skills and expertise in the following areas.
  • Detail oriented documentation of infrastructure, tasks, and solutions.
  • Create network diagrams using software and perform complex technical analysis; must work effectively as part of a team as well as communicate effectively with team members and at all levels of management.
  • Ability to multitask and work on multiple projects concurrently
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate to all levels of end-user including technical and non-technical users.
  • The right individual will display high energy and a proactive, creative approach to delivering IT solutions to disparate business units.
  • Detail and process oriented person who can drive best practice standards
  • Experience working with remote and distributed teams across multiple time zones. Qualifications
    • MCSA, MCSE, or MCITP certification or equivalent certification through such as Comptia, LPI, and RHCE
    • 4+ years experience as a System Administrator
    • 3-5 years of experience as a Systems Administrator deploying and supporting:
    • Hardware architecture, diagnostics, and troubleshooting on Dell, HP, IBM, Cisco, or EMC systems.
    • 2+ years expereince design, configuration and management of Windows 2016/2008/2003/2000 AD Domain infrastructure including the ability to create and manage Group Policy Objects, Domain trusts and logon scripts.
    • Business Continuity and Disaster Recover using Dell NetVault or Backup Exec 12/11.x
    • McAfee Client Security, MS SQL 2012/2016/2005/2000, IIS 6.System security and threat management.
    • 2+ years of experience using desktop and server provisioning tools such as SMS, SCCM, Dell Kace, Ghost, etc.
    • Experience installing, configuring, and management of Microsoft Exchange 2016/2010/2007 Server.
    • Experience installing, configuring, supporting and administration of Microsoft 365.
    • Experience with Active Directory migrations, VMware, Hyper-V, Microsoft Lync, and industry standard monitoring and remote management solutions a plus
    • 1+ years of Linux experience a plus
    • Candidate must have experience and willingness to share 24x7 support responsibilities with other members of the IT team.
