Job Description:
Douglas County District Attorney's Office is hiring for a
Media/Information Technology Specialist at their Lawrence, KS
locationTheir responsibilities include working across multiple
software platforms to retrieve case information from various law
enforcement agencies, assisting prosecutors in the editing and
presentation of of various media evidence at trial, and to obtain
and analyze data from existing software system (Full Case and PbK)
regarding cases filed by the Douglas County District Attorney's
Office by performing the following duties. Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in technology related of study from a four-year
college or Four to five years related experience and/or training;
or equivalent combination of education and experience with an
emphasis on video and audio editing. Successful candidate must
successfully pass a criminal background check. -Valid driver's
license. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the
following. Other duties may be assigned as needed. Consults and
works closely with various law enforcement agencies to gather
information about their respective system requirements and figures
out how those requirements can be tooled to best suit the needs of
the office to obtain any necessary reports, files, photographs,
videos, etc. necessary for the office to proceed with case
prosecution. Is familiar with reading, manipulating and linking
data sources found in existing tables in the office's case tracking
software (Full Case and PbK) utilizing Crystal Reports or similar
software to obtain and analyze data and generate reports as
directed by the District Attorney. Edits various media files as
directed by office attorneys and ensures product is able to be
retrieved and utilized for case prosecution. Completes edits
accurately and in a timely manner. Is the primary administrator
within the District Attorney's Office for Document Manager/Document
Logistix software system which is used for managing internal and
external discovery documents. Contributes ideas and feedback to the
District Attorney on current and future software requirement. Acts
as the Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC) and Local Agency Security
Officer (LASO) for the office. Ensures all necessary requirements
are met to keep the office, including computer, computer software
and mandated staff training compliant in accordance with all
requirements set forth by the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP)/Kansas
Criminal Justice Information System (KCJIS) Unit and to ensure the
office has continued access to KCJIS, This includes maintaining and
updating the office KCJIS Standard Operating Procedures manual.
Acts as the first responder to office technology problems by
providing technical assistance by responding to inquiries from the
office staff regarding errors, problems, or questions about
programs. More difficult or widespread issues will be addressed by
the Douglas County Information Technology department. In
conjunction with the Douglas County IT department, develops,
implements, and maintains long - term and short-term planning to
ensure systems infrastructures and integrated services are
developed and provided in the most cost effective and efficient
manner.
