Job Description Job Description Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1 years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Provide specialized nursing care in a dynamic stepdown and progressive care unit focusing on patients recovering from complex abdominal surgeries and trauma. This role is ideal for RNs with at least two years of experience who thrive in fast-paced environments and are comfortable providing care to bariatric, urology, hepatobiliary, colorectal, and trauma patients. First-time stepdown nurses are welcome to apply. Key Qualifications and Experience: - Registered Nurse (RN) license with at least 2 years of clinical experience - Basic Life Support (BLS) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required - Experience caring for post-surgical patients including bariatric, urology, hepatobiliary, colorectal, and trauma cases - Ability and willingness to float regularly between departments and units within the facility - Strong critical thinking skills and ability to manage wound care including necrotizing soft tissue infections and Wound Vac changes - Reliable availability for 8 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period Responsibilities: - Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients recovering from surgeries such as TURP, nephrectomy, Whipple procedure, colon resection, and trauma related abdominal injuries - Monitor patient status and respond promptly to changing clinical conditions - Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans - Perform wound care including serial debridement and management of advanced wound therapies - Adhere to all facility policies and protocols ensuring patient safety and care quality Schedule: - Night shift: Three 12-hour shifts per week, from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM This contract position requires living a minimum of 75 miles away from the facility, with up to 3 guaranteed shifts every 13 weeks. Nurses will not be required to cover more than 7 consecutive days of work. Flexibility to float among units is a must, though block schedules are not accommodated.
