QualificationsCVICU nurses work quickly, efficiently,
independently, and meticulously. -In order to treat the most
critical patients in the most thorough manner, critical care nurses
use their specialized skills and extensive knowledge of disease
pathology to provide interventions that sustain life.About this
unit:
- The Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) is a fast paced, high acuity,
team-work based unit focused on the care of the cardiac
patient.
- Nurses are responsible for the medical management and post
procedure care of the acute cardiac patient.
- Nurses maintain multiple advanced competencies (pacemaker,
Swan-Ganz catheter, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump-IABP, Impella,
Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation-ECMO, and Continuous Renal
Replacement Therapy-CRRT) while caring for this acutely-ill
patientsResponsibilities:
- Under the general direction of the Director or Manager,
coordinates and provides patient care and assumes individual
responsibility and accountability for the provision of nursing
care. Nursing care is provided in accordance with hospital policies
and procedures, applicable state Nursing Practice Acts, ANA
Standards of Practice, and the generic and unit structure
standards.
- The Staff Nurse in CVICU provides care for newborn/pediatric
patients between 2 weeks to 11 years of age; adolescent patients
between 12 to 17 years of age; adult patients between 18 to 64
years; and geriatric patients 65 years and older. Adaptable and
flexible with the ever changing acuity and census. Assignments may
change according to the census or change of acuity in the patient.
-What qualifications you will need:
- Graduate of school of nursing required.
- Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the
state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in
accordance with law and regulation. Current BCLS certification
required. ACLS certification required within 3-6 months of hire.
Excellent interpersonal skills required.
- Has successfully completed one year of experience on a Medical
Surgical Unit or Telemetry. is a 340+ bed facility offering acute
medical services to our patients. We are Johnson County's only
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Level II Trauma Center. We have
an Accredited Stroke and Chest Pain Center. Our hospital is a
premier area destination for Women's & Children's healthcare
services. We offer the region's only Maternal Fetal Health Center
to care for critically ill mothers and their babies. Our hospital
has an antepartum unit, a labor and delivery unit, and a Level III
NICU. We have four emergency rooms, including a dedicated Pediatric
emergency room and two freestanding ERs located in Olathe and
Shawnee. Each year our colleagues treat over 45,000 patients.
