Job Summary

Coordinate engineering work to drive completion of machine related projects. Develop concepts and quote project and machine builds and coordinate build schedules with manufacturing. Develop and submit CEP requests. Manage 8 direct reports to complete a wide variety of projects across Huhtamaki manufacturing sites and external customer facilities.

Essential Functions

• Oversee and guide machine design and controls projects to completion.
• Build relationships with plant personnel to develop value added projects to support manufacturing.
• Continue to build and maintain up to date skill sets in machine design, controls, and machine functional safety.
• Work closely with machine shop to support manufacturing issues and coordinate project and shipment schedules with plant management.
• Quote completion of existing and new development machine and tooling build projects for Huhtamaki manufacturing sites and external packaging customers.
• Support various internal improvement projects in manufacturing, planning, and department processes.
• Coordinate remote and on-site engineering support for existing plant machinery.
• Develop and maintain important vendor relationships.
• Manage engineering group budget and contribute to whole department budget attainment.
• Contribute to a culture of workplace safety in the department and across the company.
• Support/direct equipment and packaging testing and troubleshooting efforts in external customer plants to support packaging business relationships.
• Responsible for hiring, career development, performance evaluation and training of engineering staff. Job Qualifications
  
  Required
  • Experience in machine design and control systems.
  • Experience with direct management of technical personnel.
  • Experience with development of capital projects and budgets.
  • Strong technical experience base with plant operations and equipment systems.
  • Computer literate: MS Office; MS Project and CAD experience.
  • Knowledge of ERP software system as related to manufacturing environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: ability to communicate orally and in writing; ability to present information one on one and in group settings, at all levels of the organization, under all circumstances.
  • Detail oriented, organized.
  • Self-starter; flexible; change agent.
  • Must be able to work concurrently on multiple priorities and projects. Preferred
    • Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline (ME, EE).
    • Experience around relevant paper, printing, paperboard, or other food packaging technology.
    • 5 years with solid track record of project management.
