TT Electronics' Olathe, Kansas facility, is an industry-leading
designer and manufacturer of custom magnetic products and
assemblies. The Olathe-based site has 65 years' experience in the
design and development of unique harsh-environment solutions for
mission-critical applications.
Our dedicated teams are driven by collaboration and innovation to
deliver engineering-led products supporting key applications
including power conversion, actuation and control systems where our
solutions support a broad range of globally recognized major
aerospace and defense platforms across air, land and sea.
Introduction
The Engineering Manager is an experienced leader within the
Engineering field that manages, plans, directs, evaluates, and
improves operations for a variety of power electronics development
product/projects, aerospace projects will be a plus. This role is
responsible for major and complex assignments with long-term
business implications, managing complex issues within functional
area of expertise, managing a design team, and contributing to the
overall business.
Key Responsibilities
Act as Engineer of Record for design projects.
Serve as a recognized technical expert in engineering
discipline.
Serve as a technical liaison on matters pertaining to design.
Serve as the people manager for the design team.
Develop training schedule for design team.
Provide consultation to management and designers.
Provide routine project and performance feedback to design
team.
Provide technical leadership in design reviews, modifications and
recommends modifications.
Enhance technical excellence in design team.
Identify and recommend where improvements in knowledge of the
discipline are needed or where technical training is needed.
Establish a total quality management strategy to assure early
involvement on design processes.
Provide leadership to help focus and integrate new technology
smoothly into design.
Suggest areas where technology advancements are needed and
recommend approaches to address top problems within the
organization or projects in focused technical area.
Lead the quality control process on assigned projects.
Coach and mentor team members.
Identify and mitigate potential risks/issues throughout project
life cycle.
Coordinate with internal engineering disciplines as needed
including Mechanical, Electrical, Operation, and Manufacturing to
ensure the project designs are effectively integrated for each
project.
Maintain project details and progressing project management
tool.
Practical application of engineering science and technology
including principles, techniques, procedures and equipment.
Ability to identify complex problems and reviewing related
information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
by using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and
weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to
problems.
Ability to monitor and/or assess performance of team members to
make improvements or take corrective action.
Apply advanced techniques, modifications, and theories to a variety
of complex situations.
Actively learn to understand the implications of new information
for both current and future problem-solving and
decision-making.
Core Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
discipline, with a minimum of 5 or more years of relevant design
experience.
Demonstrated experience managing teams (as direct reports).
Comprehensive knowledge of sustainable design practices.
Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple, simultaneous
projects and priorities.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, effective communicator
at all organizational levels.
Highly organized, superb attention to detail, capable of
multi-tasking and following through on tasks to completion.
Possess strong communication skills (both written and verbal), able
to interact with all stakeholders and act as a professional
representative of the corporation.
This position requires use of information which is subject to the
International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants
must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a
