Job Description:
Position Purpose/SummaryThe Network Video Engineer is committed
to providing the highest quality of IP Video service to the
communities, customers, and employees we serve by designing,
managing, and maintaining video network infrastructure and its
related equipment. This position oversees the performance of video
systems and conducts traffic analysis and capacity planning for
quality-of-service functions. The Network Video Engineer also
supports the Central Office head-end personnel with guidance and
coordination between head-end systems and the IP-based
platforms.Primary Duties & ResponsibilitiesDesign, configure,
deploy, and maintain IP-based video network infrastructure
including encoders, transcoders, IRDs, decoders, cherry pickers,
servers, routers and switches to support the delivery of IP Video
content to Fastwyre's TV Apps, including clients such as Apple TV,
Amazon Fire TV, Roku and iOS devices.Maintain technical documents,
knowledgebases and designs related to the network video
infrastructure.Responsible for analyzing video and audio quality
and performing optimization to achieve desired results.Drives
standards and specifications for video communication equipment
replacements and new deployments.Devise a plan for and arrange
preemptive maintenance and upgrades for equipment and software of
video transport systems.Oversee performance and capacity issues for
video traffic, ensuring video streams and systems are operating
without any downtimes.Act as Tier 3 and provide support for video
network infrastructure, video servers and equipment, and firewall
infrastructure in relation to video transport for external and
internal customers.Monitor and update key performance indicators
for reporting to senior leadership team members.Provide video
system training to engineering professionals and support to others
on the network team.Performing all other duties and
responsibilities as assigned.Knowledge, Abilities, & Skills for
SuccessExperience with Advanced Advertising standards and protocols
(SCTE-30, 35, 104, 224, ESNI, ESAM, VAST, VMAP) for ad-insertion,
standard network services (DNS, DHCP)Experience with advanced
troubleshooting of various streaming video formats (HLS-Fairplay,
HSS-PlayReady, DASH-Common Encryption)Comprehensive knowledge of
UDP, Multicast and Unicast traffic, including streaming media
protocols, such as RTSP/ RTP/RTCP, HTTP 1.0 and 1.1, and RTMP and
SIP and video file containers, such as MPEG-2 TS and MP4.Experience
with concepts, terminology, and operations of a wide range of
communications media (computer and telephone networks, satellite,
fiber, wireless).Experience with local area and wide area
networking principles and concepts including bandwidth management
and quality of service (QoS).Skill in analyzing network traffic
capacity and performance characteristics. Experience supporting
users by developing documentation and assistance tools.Experience
working with third-party APIs and integrations; Service Desk Now,
SolarWinds, etc.Strong understanding of enterprise application
integration capabilities, data sources, and OSS application
lifecycle.Ability to face off to business and technical
stakeholders within the business for operational, project and
deployment activities have an appreciation of the risk associated
with a Video environment and the regulatory controls within
it.QualificationsAt a minimum, the Network Video Engineer must
have: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information
technology, or related field or minimum of 4 years of working
experience in the IP Video field at an engineering level.Current
Cisco engineering certifications CCNA/CCNP/CCIE preferredMinimum 6
years' engineering work experienceExperience working in large
