About This Role:


Kansas State University Olathe (http://olathe.k-state.edu) invites applications and nominations for a new, 12-month, non-tenure track, Teaching Assistant or Associate Professor in Engineering Technology (commensurate with experience). This leadership position requires a visionary individual with an understanding of engineering technology disciplines, a track record of curriculum development, and a passion for guiding both students and faculty members toward academic and professional success. This position will have a primary focus on meeting the needs of regional manufacturers through targeted program offerings and strategic collaborations.
Responsibilities:

  • Program Development and Enhancement: Drive the continuous improvement of the Engineering Technology program with a clear focus on addressing the evolving needs of regional manufacturers. Shape the direction, curricula, and offerings to align with industry demands and emerging technological trends. Develop new courses and pathways that equip students with the skills sought by manufacturers.


  • Curriculum Design and Industry Alignment: Collaborate with department faculty and industry experts to design curriculum components that directly address the requirements of regional manufacturers. Ensure program offerings are closely aligned with industry standards, processes, and technologies.


  • Faculty Leadership and Development: Provide mentorship and support to faculty members within the Engineering Technology program. Foster a culture of teaching excellence and scholarly engagement. Encourage professional development opportunities that enhance industry-relevant expertise.


  • Student Success: Implement strategies to enhance student recruitment, retention, and engagement withing the Engineering Technology program. Forge strong connections between students and local manufacturers through internships, capstone projects, and industry-sponsored initiatives.


  • Industry Engagement and Partnerships: Cultivate and maintain robust partnerships with regional manufacturers, industry associations, and professional organizations. Collaborate on workforce development initiatives, training programs, and applied projects that address real-world challenges.


  • Community College Collaboration: Establish and nurture pathways for students transferring from local community colleges, ensuring that the curriculum aligns seamlessly with both institutions. Collaborate on curriculum articulation, credit transfer mechanisms, and streamlined education experiences.


  • Accreditation and Assessment: Collaborate with department faculty to maintain ABET accreditation while incorporating industry-specific performance metrics. Develop assessment methods that measure graduates' preparedness for careers in regional manufacturing.


  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the department's strategic planning by providing insights into program growth, resource allocation, and emerging trends in engineering technology education as they relate to the manufacturing sector.


  • Collaborative Initiatives: Collaborate with other department faculty, academic administrators, and local industry partners on cross-disciplinary projects and initiatives that drive innovation and align with regional manufacturing needs.

    What You'll Need to Succeed:


    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master of Science degree in Engineering Technology, or related field
  • Significant industry experience

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Substantial experience in curriculum development and program leadership within the field of engineering technology.
    • Demonstrated track record of fostering student success, faculty development, and industry partnerships, particularly within the manufacturing sector.
    • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills for building and sustaining relationships with regional manufacturers and stakeholders.
    • Deep knowledge of industry trends, manufacturing processes and emerging technologies in engineering technology fields.
    • Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the program and broader academic community.
    • Proficiency in data analysis, assessment, and accreditation processes related to academic programs.

      Other Requirements:
