Safety The Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) is seeking a
qualified individual to serve as a Program Assistant for our Public
Safety Team. This person will manage administrative tasks for the
team, coordinate travel, spending and logistics and support on the
overall team coordination. About MARC MARC, the association of

leadership. About this position This is a full-time, non-exempt
position supporting the Local Government Services Department,
reporting to the Public Safety Operations Manage. This position
will handle the following day-to-day responsibilities:
Administrative Support for 911 Program Staff Supports the Public
Safety Training Coordinator and other Public Safety Program
Assistants as needed. Assists other Public Safety staff as needed.
Provides general administrative support to team including mailings,
monitoring the 911 inbox and disseminating information to others,
adding items to the 911 calendar, maintenance of 911 program
contact and distribution lists, preparing regular staff and
statistical reports, conducting research, etc. Develops and
maintains a highly specialized file and records system for all 911
program documentation and correspondence. Organizes and maintains
various administrative, reference, and follow-up files. Covers MARC
Receptionist Desk as required and as needed. Receives and screens
visitors and telephone calls providing information. Assists with
coordination of the regional 911 public education program by
checking the regional PEP line and responding to requests for
service, scheduling and confirming presentations, printing
schedules for volunteers, monitoring use of supplies and equipment
(costume, simulators, and supplies), and processing evaluation and
activity reports. Develops correspondence or memoranda
independently or from verbal instructions; reviews finished
materials for completeness, accuracy, format, compliance with
policies and procedures, and appropriate English usage.
Coordination of Events & Travel Logistics Assists with events such
as Telecommunicator Appreciation Celebration (TAC) and other
telecommunicator events. Coordinates two annual special recognition
events for regional telecommunicators including booking,
sponsorship, marketing, awards, registration, and hosting
responsibilities. Makes Public Safety staff travel arrangements
including booking, registrations, reconciliation and processing.
Delivers items to Public Safety Answering Points via company
vehicle as needed. Assists with special public education and
promotion events by scheduling volunteers, soliciting sponsorships,
and handling registration activities. Financial & Billing Support
Processes payments of invoices for Public Safety Answering Points
(PSAP)s. Invoice member counties for a percentage of regional 911
expenses. Reconciles Public Safety staff credit card purchases.
Other duties Coordinates communication and support for Public
Safety and related committees and subcommittees and Public Safety
meetings, including managing calendars, providing draft meeting
agendas, preparing informational materials, posting meeting
notices, attending meetings, providing meeting summaries, and
setup/ cleanup of meeting rooms. Completes other duties as

both individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds. Provides
excellent service to internal and external customers, demonstrating
a positive approach and providing timely and thorough responses.
Organizational & Task Management Ability to work independently,
manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Ability to take
initiative to plan and complete assigned work with a high level of
accuracy. Ability to coordinate program activities and organize
meetings. Ability to accurately prepare and maintain documents,
correspondence, files, and reports. Knowledge of records
administration and maintenance techniques and procedures.
Proficiency with Word, Excel, Teams, Office 365, and ability to
learn and use various software platforms. Problem Solving Ability
to make sound decisions by applying policies and procedures and
using available resources. Looks for new and innovative ways to
accomplish work. Identifies internal practices that are less than
effective and recommends viable solutions. Ability to understand
documentation related to grants, compile grant application packets,
track contracts and due dates for reporting. Collaboration
Willingness to assist coworkers with projects and work outside
normal responsibilities for the good of the organization.

Basic requirements Highschool diploma or GED and minimum of one
year experience in an administrative support role with a public
agency preferred . Experience with standard office administrative
and clerical practices and procedures required, including business
letter writing. Must be at least 18 years of age and meet the
driving requirements for company insurance guidelines. Must abide
by driver eligibility and vehicle use requirements including a
driver license background check through the Department of Motor
Vehicles. Additional qualifications our resume will stand out if
you have: Three years’ experience in an administrative support role
with a public agency preferred. Experience with 911 systems and
public safety communications operations preferred. Salary and
benefits Starting salary for this position is from $45,500 to
$58,000 per year, depending upon qualifications. MARC offers an
attractive team-oriented work environment along with a competitive
fringe benefit package. Employees may work remotely up to two days
per week.
